Support for safe and stable housing

At Allambi Care, we believe that safe and secure housing is a fundamental human right. Homelessness isn’t just about sleeping rough - it can mean couch surfing, staying in temporary accommodation, or being unable to return home due to safety concerns. Our Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) and Homeless Youth Assistance Program (HYAP) provide vital support for young people aged 12-24 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) | Ages 16-24

Our SHS program helps young people secure and sustain stable housing through:

Crisis and transitional accommodation

Providing safe, short-term housing in our youth refuges, with a focus on long-term stability.

Outreach support

Mobile caseworkers assisting young people in the community with securing and maintaining housing.

Early intervention and crisis response

Helping prevent homelessness before it happens and responding rapidly when it does.

Case management and referrals

Connecting young people to financial, health, mental health, education, and employment supports.

Rent Choice Youth (RCY) Program

Supporting young people to access private rental housing with a government rental subsidy for up to 3 years, gradually tapering as they gain financial independence. Each young person is allocated an outreach caseworker for ongoing support with tenancy, employment, and life skills development.

We work collaboratively with housing providers, the Department of Education, and specialist services addressing mental health, domestic violence, and drug and alcohol support.

Homeless Youth Assistance Program (HYAP) | Ages 12-15

Our HYAP program focuses on early intervention, supporting young people and their families to prevent homelessness before it happens. We provide:

Family mediation and reunification

Working with families to rebuild relationships where safe and appropriate.

Crisis accommodation

Immediate, short-term housing for young people who cannot remain at home.

Education, health and wellbeing support

Linking young people with schools, healthcare, and community programs.

Outreach case management

Tailored support to address housing needs, financial services, and mental health.

Innovative housing solutions: transitional tiny homes

Allambi Care is proud to announce that we have secured the Homelessness Innovation Fund (HIF) Grant, enabling us to build transitional tiny homes for homeless young people. These homes will provide a safe, independent living space with ongoing case management and support, offering a vital step toward long-term housing stability.

Beyond housing: Court Support & BCCP

Allambi Care also supports young people through the Broadmeadow Children’s Court Pilot (BCCP). We assist young people involved in the court system by providing advocacy, housing solutions, and wraparound case management, ensuring they receive the support they need to move forward in a positive direction.
