A Senior Research Fellow in the Law and Justice Hub at the Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research, University of Technology Sydney, with over 10 years’ experience across academic and sector-based research roles.
Brings strong legal and justice expertise through research at the intersection of child protection, out-of-home care and criminal legal systems, with a particular focus on care criminalisation, therapeutic residential care and system responses affecting children and young people.
Extensive out-of-home care knowledge, including four years working with Allambi Care to support evaluation of the Needs-Based Restorative Framework, and prior research roles with Anglicare Victoria and leading universities.
Research with First Nations researchers and organisations focused on First Nations over-representation in statutory systems and partnerships supporting First Nations self-determination in child protection and youth justice.
Has worked in collaboration with key Aboriginal and sector organisations, including SNAICC and Grandmothers Against Removals NSW.
Holds a PhD in Forensic Psychology and leading funded projects focused on building therapeutic residential care workforce capability and learning frameworks.
Active contributor to national and international practice and research communities, including the International Working Group on Therapeutic Residential Care and the National Therapeutic Residential Care Alliance, and appointed Visiting Fellow at the University of Northampton.
